1. A LOCAL LUFTHANSA CONTACT ADVISES THAT ALTHOUGH LUFTHANSA
HAVE RECEIVED PERMISSION TO USE THIS AIR ROUTE THERE HAS BEEN
NO MENTION OF ANY CHARGES AND HE FEELS THAT THERE MAY WELL BE
NONE.
2. A GERMAN CARGO LINES BOEING 707 FLIGHT USED THIS ROUTE ON
THE 29TH APRIL AND REPORTED THAT NO DIFFICULTIES WERE EXPERIENCED.
LUFTHANSA HAVE APPLIED FOR ALL CARGO AIRCRAFT TO USE THE ROUTE BUT WILL NOT USE IT WITH THEIR DC10S BECAUSE THEY ARE SCHEDULED TO STOP AT BANGKOK EN ROUTE TO AND FROM HONG KONG.
3. IF THIS MOVE. BY THE CHINESE HAS A POLITICAL BACKGROUND IT
COULD WELL BE THAT NO CHARGES WILL BE REQUESTED IN ORDER TO
MAKE IT AS EFFECTIVE AS POSSIBLE.
4. THE CIVIL AVIATION DEPARTMENT HAS RECEIVED A LETTER FROM
THE FLIGHT OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT OF CAAC IN PEKING SUGGESTING
SOME REVISIONS TO THE ROUTE BETWEEN HONG KONG AND CANTON WHICH
APPEAR TO BE VERY SATISFACTORY AND SHOULD LEAD TO A MAXIMUM
SAVING OF TIME BY THE USE OF THIS AIR ROUTE AS OPPOSED TO AMBER
ONE FOR AIRCRAFT WHICH ARE NOT CALLING AT BANGKOK OR KUALA LUMPUR.
SHOUD ANY DIFFICULTIES ARISE THEN THERE WILL BE LOCAL CONSULTATIONS
BETWEEN HONG KONG CIVIL AVIATION DEPARTMENT AND THE CANTON
CAAC ORGANISATION WE THEREFORE SEE NO DIFFICULTY IN ACCEPTING
THE B.A PLANS AS CUTLINED.
