Amend the Shipping and Port Control Ordinance.
Enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the
advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof.
Short title.
1.
This Ordinance may be cited as the Shipping
and Port Control (Amendment) (No. 2) Ordinance 1979.
Amendment of section 2.
(76 of 1978.)
2.
Section 2 of the principal Ordinance is
amended in the definition of "authorized officer" by
deleting "Station" in paragraph (b).
Amendment of section 59.
3. Section 59(2) of the principal Ordinance is
amended by deleting "Station".
Explanatory Memorandum
This Bill extends various powers of enforcement
in the principal Ordinance to police officers of or above
the rank of Sergeant, by altering the definition of
"authorized officer" in section 2 of the Ordinance.
At present, these powers are vested in police officers
of or above the rank of Station Sergeant only.
The Bill has no financial or staffing
implications.
