The intention now is that the Ferry Services Bill will be brought before this Council in 1980 and that franchises and licences will be granted to take effect from 1st January 1981. So the interim arrangements will need to cover the period to 31st December 1980 and this has been accepted by the Company. The amendments required to extend the existing arrangements, as set out in the motion, involve amendments to the Schedule to the Hong Kong and Yaumati Ferry Company (Services) Ordinance for the continuance of existing services and the waiving of royalty payments for one year.
