PROPOSED FARE REVISION FOR ALL PASSENGER SERVICES

Introduction

On 27th July 1976, after considering memorandum XCC(76)50. Members advised and the Governor ordered:

(a) that the royalties payable by the Hong Kong and Yaumati Ferry Company for the calendar years 1975-79 inclusive should be waived;

(b) that the monthly fees payable in respect of Hong Kong

and Yaumati Ferry Company's North Point/Hung Hom, Shau Kei Wan/Sam Ka Tsuen and Shau Kei Wan/Kwun Tong passenger ferry services for the five calendar years 1975-79 should be waived;

(c) that the second class fare on the Hong Kong and Yaumati

Ferry Company's cross harbour routes should be abolished and replaced by a single class fare of 30 cents for adults and 20 cents for students and children; and

(d) that a resolution to give effect to the above decisions

should be introduced into the Legislative Council, it being noted that the monthly fees for the Shau Kei Wan/ Sam Ka Tsuen and Shau Kei Wan/Kwun Tong passenger services can be waived administratively.

The resolution to give effect to these changes was made in the Legislative Council on 4th August 1976.

On 14th December 1976, after considering memorandum XCC(76)83A, Council advised and the Governor ordered:

(a) (i)

that fares for Outlying District and Inter- Island Services should be increased;

(ii)

that fares for Tolo Harbour services should be revised and second class fares on this service abolished;
