The meeting at the DOT yesterday agreed that Peking should be instructed to follow up Priston's initiative on the exchange of letters under the ECA with the Department of Foreign Trade and/or the State Planning Commission (DOT will draft).
2. It was also agreed that we should seek Hong Kong's advice on how we might proceed with the Maritime Agreement. I attach a draft provided initially by DOT but amended to take account of points made at the meeting. I should be grateful for urgent comments before I submit it to Mr Murray! to enable us to submit
to Mr Murray before close of peay bday.
