Hon. D.W. McDonald,
Director of Public Works.
Sir,
Re: Intention to Grant a lease of Foreshore & Seabed
On behalf of all villagers in Ta Ho Tun Village, Sai Kung, I object to the captioned proposal (relevant plan attached) for the following main reasons:
(1) The "fung shui" (geomantic advantage) of our village
will be affected.
(2) The villagers' livelihood will be affected.
(3) The proposed project will affect the villagers' access
to sea.
(4) Pollution will be caused to the foreshore and seabed. (5) Traffic accidents will occur. (Most pleasure-seekers
like to drive at high speed).
(6) The villagers' freedom and rights will be approached
upon.
We hope that the Government would not ignore public opinion just for obtaining a sizable revenue. You are requested to consider our abovecited views, which are all based on facts, in order to avoid disputes or conflicts among the villagers, the Government and those who intend to carry out the proposed works.
c.c. Mr. R.I.W. Upton.
Encls.
Yours faithfully,
Lo Kwai Hung, Representative of Ta Ho Tun Villagers, Sai Kung.
