MEMORANDUM FOR EXECUTIVE COUNCIL
HONG KONG AND CHINA GAS COMPANY LIMITED APPLICATION FOR A GASHOLDER SITE AT ABERDEEN

Introduction
On 22nd May 1979, having considered memorandum XCR(79)113 (copy attached without annexes as Annex A). Members advised and the Governor ordered:
(a) under section 5(3)(a) of the Foreshores and Sea
Bed Ordinance (Chapter 127), that it is expedient to grant a lease of an area delineated red on the plan at Annex B to the memorandum to the Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited for the construction of a gasholder; and
(b)
under section 3(2)(a) of the Public Reclamations
and Works Ordinance (Chapter 113), that the
proposed reclamation as shown on the plan at Annex
C to the memorandum should be authorised to
proceed without modification,
subject to the eventual detailed conditions of grant being referred back to Council for consideration and approval.

This memorandum sets out the proposed basic terms of the private treaty grant. It also gives further background information on land negotiations relating to the lot occupied by the existing gas- holder at Kennedy Town.

The following basic terms were offered to and accepted by the Hong Kong and China Gas Co.Ltd on 23rd February 1978 in respect of the proposed grant site shown delineated red on the plan at Annex B and subject to a successful outcome of procedure under the Foreshores and Sea Bed Ordinance.
