Re: MTR Resumption of
Sai Lau Kok
I was called to the besiezed Sai Lau Kok at the instance of the dissident residents and owners thereof in the morning of 3rd September, 1979. I arrived there in the afternoon and an emergency meeting of the owners/residents was held.
I observed that most of the people there were hawkers, drivers, factory workers and labourers although some of them and their representatives were intellectuals. Except the intellectuals, the understanding power of most of them were incredibly low. The intellectuals, too, were confused as to the exact meaning and nature of the formulae for compensation as from time to time offered to them by the Covernment. There were obviously a great deal of confusion and misunderstanding.
