Dear Sir Michael,
I am writing to you on behalf of the Laird Group about the splendid efforts made by Mr. Derek March, Senior British Trade Commissioner in Hong Kong. It is fair to say that without his skill, tact, energy and initiative it would have been difficult for our subsidiary Metro Cammell to secure the major manufacturing contracts for railway trains in Hong Kong won there recently in the teeth of Japanese competition. My Board and I feel strongly that Mr. March's efforts should not be left either unrecorded or unappreciated.
