who understands the business world and who will impress the Chinese both in Hong Kong and in Peking. I did hear it suggested that Ivor Richards would be the choice. He might be quite good but I was told, oddly no doubt, that his appearance would be against him among the Chinese and that after his failure (though not his fault) with Rhodesia
he would be regarded as an unlucky and unsuccessful man whom they would not like to have as Governor.
