CHINESE INTENTIONS IN REGARD TO HONG KONG
Α

1.
In your manuscript minute of 9 April you asked
for something to read on Chinese intentions in
regard to Hong Kong.
2. I attach a copy of a paper on 'Hong Kong in the
1980's' recently submitted by Hong Kong & General
Department. Paragraphs 19 give our assessment
of British and Chinese interests in Hong Kong. I
also attach, to bring you fully up to date, all three
Peking telegrams reporting the Governor of Hong Kong's
calls in Peking on Vice Premier Deng Xiaoping and
Foreign Minister Huang Hua.
3.
Please let me know if there are further points on
which you would like more information.
