VISIT OF GOVERNOR OF HONG KONG

1. As the Minister of State is aware, the Governor of Hong Kong being recalled for consultations next week and expects to be in London for a few days from 13 June. Since this will be

Sir M MacLehose's first visit to this country since the Government took office I recommend that Mr Blaker should act as host at a lunch. I understand that he would be free to do so on Thursday, 14 June.

2. I attach a proposed guest list. If Mr Blaker wishes to keep the lunch small the two Hong Kong Government officials accompanying the Governor on his trip to London and two of the FCO officials (I suggest Mr Murray and myself) might be omitted.

3.

If the Minister of State is prepared to do this I should be grateful to know whether he has any preferences as to venue. If not, I will arrange somewhere suitable.
