Each geographical department should provide the usual background note, including relations with the UK, and personality notes, as annexes to the Steering Brief.
6. Presentation will follow the guidelines set out in the Private Secretary's Circular (Home B 52/79) of 30 May 1979. Briefs should be on separate sheets of paper and in double spacing. They should be headed:

Briefs should be cleared as necessary with other FCO and Whitehall Departments, and with Under-Secretaries and Ministers; they should be typed in final form, and number 1+8.
7. Timing:
Briefs should reach the three Departmental Co- ordinating Officers by noon, Thursday, 21 June. Departments listed in paragraph 3, who are producing briefs common to more than one post, should send separate sets of their briefs (1+8 in each set) to the relevant Co-ordinating Officers. The geographical depart- ment will prepared 1+8 folders for each capital and will deliver them to SAD (Mr Kida) by 5:00p.m. on 21 June.
8. Mr Kidd (SAD) will co-ordinate the whole exercise.
