In January, CLP and the Guangdong
(Kwangtung) Electric
Industry Bureau (KEIB)

signed a draft agreement for a 50 my supply of 1 million units day (on a 24 hour basis), to the
Chinase power network at Shum Chun in Fo On
County. The connection will be made from CLP's
cxisting sub-station at Fan Ling, which is about
12 kms from Shum Chun. It is understood that
the supply is required mainly to provide power.

The amount of energy involved in the
deal may be compared with CLP's present average
daily generation of about 20 million units, and
the maximum demand forecast for 1979 of 1,755 mw.

There will be two transmission circuits,
one of which is to be completed by 31 March 1979;
and the other by 31 December. CLP will design
and arrange the supply of all the transmission
circuits and associated equipment, and carry out
the installation work on this side of the border,
KEIB will install the transmission circuits etc
from the border to Shum Chun, and carry out the
civil engineering work at Shun Chun. CLP will
meet all the expenses and remain the owners of
the transmission equipment, on both sides of
the border. Work on the first circuit is said
to be proceeding well, and it is expected to be
completed on time.
