CALL BY THE CHINESE AMBASSADOR, 5PM, WEDNESDAY 30 MAY
1. The Chinese Ambassador, Mr Ke Hua, will be making an
introductory call on the Lord Privy Seal at 5pm on Wednesday
30 May.
2. Mr Ke doubtless hopes that the Lord Privy Seal will tell him the broad lines of the foreign policies of the new
Administration. The Lord Privy Seal may wish to ask Mr Ke
about Chinese foreign policy including Sino/Soviet and Sino/ Vietnamese relations. It would also be helpful if he could
mention briefly the problems we face over accommodation for
our Embassy staff in Peking. Mr Ke's call on Mr Blaker on
Friday 1 June will provide the opportunity for a discussion
of our bilateral relations.
3.
I attach a short speaking note; background notes on
Sino/Soviet and Sino/Vietnamese relations and on Sino/British
relations; and a personality note on Mr Ke.
