exchanges in the cultural, educational, scientific and technology fields, and we are looking for a major expansion
of this over the months and years to come.
The London
Festival Ballet Company has just completed a most successful
visit to China; the first by a British Ballet Company since
1957.
AIR SERVICES AGREEMENT

We hope to conclude an Air Services Agreement with
the Chinese Government in the near future. A negotiating
team from the Department of Trade is currently in Peking
discussing the question with the Chinese Government.
CHINESE FOREIGN POLICY AND INTERNATIONAL ROLE

As I made clear in the House on the 18th of May
we welcome the present Chinese leadership's positive and outwar Looking foreign policy. We hope that they will exert their
very considerable influence, particularly in the developing
world in the interest of international stability and
prosperity
SINO/SOVIET RELATIONS
18.
We have noted the exchanges between China and the
Soviet Union on the possibility of holding talks on their
bilateral relations. We welcome this as we welcome any moves
towards a reduction of tension in the area.
SINO/US RELATIONS
19.
The Government welcomes the improved relations
between China and the United States which will be an important
factor for stability and peace.
