TRAVEL TO CHINA FROM HONG KONG: NEW CHINESE DOCUMENTS
The NCN A told us on 9 July that there would be an announcement in the local left wing' press of a new travel document for Hong Kong and Macau for compatriots travelling to China. This is called the 'Home Visit Permit' (Hui Xiang
!
Zheng) and replaces the previous system of letters of recommendation for single visits only. The new document provides for unlimited visits to China within a period of 3 years. The documents are issued by the Guangdong Public Security Bureau through the C T S offices in Hong Kong and Macau.
2.
These documents will only be issued to holders of Hong Kong or Macau identity cards and they will not affect the continued use in Hong Kong of Certificates of Identity and Declarations of Identity for the purpose of our own immigration procedures.
3.
I attach a rough translation of the story which appeared in the 'Ta Kung Pao' on 10 July.
