That this House believes that electro-convulsive therapy should in no circumstances be used without an informed consents procedure; and further is doubtful whether it should be used at all, in view of the ethical questions this raises, the lack of evidence as to its true efficacy and the strength of claims to the contrary, as well as the alarming side effects which can result.
