Last Tuesday Miss Clyne of the IDS gave me some figures on the telephone. She promised immediate confirmation by letter but this has not yet arrived.
2. The basic figures for my estimate are:
IDS Bed and breakfast
Canteen lunch
Private lunch/dinner
Conference Room
IDS incidentals
1st class rail fare
London/Brighton
2nd 10
#1
#1
£
5.00

50.00
150.00
4.69 (single) 3.13
3. The original suggestion to IDS of a seminar for 30 people staying 2 nights with all meals privately catered for would cost in the region of £1,500. This would, I understand, be unacceptable to the planners who only have a budget of £6,000 for 10 seminars this year.
4. I suggest therefore that we plan on a seminar for 25 people starting on the Monday at 3 p.m. and finishing Tuesday at 6 p.m.
The costs would be:
Bed and breakfast
(one night)
£125.00
Canteen lunch
37.50
Dinner
125.00
Conference Room
50.00
IDS incidentals
150.00
Travel at £10 per head
250.00
Incidentals
112.50 ?
Total cost
£850.00
The planners have delegated authority to approve costs for seminars and a minute should be sent to them and not to PSD.
