6. In addition to the Dependent Territories there will be, as from

November 1979, two Associated States in the West Indies having full internal

self-government with the British Government retaining responsibility for

external affairs and defence, although certain responsibilities, eg regional

affairs and trade, have been delegated to the State governments. The

association of these states with the United Kingdom is free and voluntary

and may be terminated unilaterally. Information on the Associated States

is at Annex B.
