In addition to the Dependent Territories, there ar Associated States in the West Indies that have full internal self-government and the British Government retain responsi- bility for external affairs and defence, although certain responsibilities, e.g. regional affairs and trade, have been delegated to the State governments. The association of these states with the United Kingdom is free and voluntary and may be
