I thank you for your letter of 31 January about an extension of the Appointment of His Excellency Mr Thomas Russell CBE as Governor of the Cayman Islands. I was glad to see that the high regard in which Mr Russell is held in London is reflected by opinion in Cayman Islands.

It would be out of place for me to offer any personal comment on your request, which I have of course duly noted. But I shall ensure that your letter is submitted when formal consideration is given to Mr Russell's tenure as it will be in the next few weeks.
