You may remember that when you were appointed to
the Turks and Caicos we pointed out that the appointment

could, in theory, 'be your last, but that you might not
wish to spend. the whole of your remaining career in it
and that, in that case, you should feel free to tell
us if after some time you would like to be considered
for the Cayman Islands before you reach 60 in 1982.
It is, of course, the case that your candidature for
Caymans could be considered only on the condition
that you were prepared to stay on in service for
several months after your 60th birthday.
