The Board considered the six briefs presented with the
Agenda:
Items 1 and 4:
Governor, Belize
5. The Board were advised that it was desirable for the pres-
ent Governor, Mr P D McEntee to see in a new Government after
the elections due in Belize towards the end of this year. It
was agreed that the Secretary of State should be advised to

recommend to The Queen that his term should be extended until
the end of 1979 or early 1980, the exact date to be decided
later.
6. The Board agreed that the Secretary of State be advised to
recommend to The Queen that Mr JP I Hennessy should replace
Mr McEntee as Governor of Belize. Both the recommended candi-
dates were regarded as well qualified, but the Board felt that
Mr Hennessy had the more relevant experience. The Board noted
that Mr Hennessy had expressed a clear preference for the
Belize post rather than the Governorship of the Falkland
a credible candidate. Islands for which he would also have been evnsidered quitable,

7. The Board agreed that the Secretary of State be advised to
recommend to The Queen that Mr. R M Hunt should replace
Mr JR W Parker as Governor of the Falkland Islands. The
Board took the view that Mr Hunt's temperament and his HMOCS
background made him the more suitable of the two candidates
considered.
Item 3: Governor, Montserrat
8. The Board agreed that the Secretary of State be advised to
recommend to The Queen that Mr DK H Dale should replace
Mr G W Jones as Governor, Montserrat. The Board considered
that both the recommended candidates had strong claims to this
appointment but that Mr Dale had the edge over Mr Wallace,
