(iii) That the Private Secretary should then write to the
Private Secretary at No 10 Downing Street on the lines of
the attached draft (extensions of existing appointments do
not require the Prime Minister's approval).
Background
3. The minutes of the meeting of the DTSAB on 4 June are
attached. I also attach biographical notes on the candidates
selected by the Board. With one exception (paragraph 4 below)
the submission of the DTSAB's recommendations has been delayed
to enable the No 1 Selection Board to consider the promotions
of the two DS officers involved, Mr Hennessy and Mr Hunt.
The No 1 Board met on 13 July.

The term of office of the existing Governor of Belize,
Mr McEntee, expired at the end of last month. The Secretary of
State has approved the extension of his appointment until late
1979 or early 1980 (depending on the timing of the forthcoming
general election in Belize) and the Private Secretary wrote to
the extension. The Queen's Private Secretary on 11 July. The Queen has now approved
5. If the Secretary of State and the Prime Minister accept
the recommendations in paragraph 2(i) above it will be necessary
to obtain The Queen's approval. A separate submission will be
made.
