The present pay scales for Police Interpreters were set by the 1971 Salaries Commission, and are still in effect, as follows

The first recruits to the Police Interpreter grade which was created in 1962 were all drawn from the General Clerical Service and the link with the General Clerical Service was maintained until 1971. The following table shows the revised pay scales compared with those of the Clerical Officer grade -
