75% of Police Interpreters refuse to perform their normal
Public interest is duties including translating cautioned statements. being affected in that processing of criminal cases is slowed down - Principal Magistrate Paul Corfe's complaint in open court is relevant. Legal advice indicates that actions under CSR are possible, and a decision on whether to suspend without pay those who refuse to translate cautioned statements is likely to be made shortly. Such action would only take place after a further attempt to persuade the Association to stop their industrial action.
DENTAL TECHNICIANS AND DENTAL TECHNOLOGISTS

The Dental Technicians continue with their "go-slow" action which started on 16.11.78. Productivity drops by about 75% of normal output. Urgent dental work is being contracted out.

The O&M report completed on 30.11.78 was discussed between CSB and M & H D representatives on 6.12.78. It was decided that in the interest of good staff relations and to enable the Association to call off industrial action, a copy of the O&M report be given to the Association (the report was handed to the Chairman on 7.12.78). The Association was told that the O & M recommendations would not be implemented until it had been consulted. Substantive discussion on
the O & M recommendations and possible creation of some senior posts will, however, be conditional upon the staff resuming normal work.
