1. The quarterly progress reports, covering February-go April 1978, have just been received from Hong Kong. At a brief glance they are generally satisfactory, except in education, where the figures are slightly disappointing. I shall shortly be drafting a submission amplifying the following points:

The follov ng were implemented in april:-
(i) The old & e suplement of ir. 100 p. I outh for those aped 60 plus on public asi tance who do not already have welfare allo ande.
(ii) The long term supplement of Hk 7500 per annum per fɛmily (ha. .250 for single peren) for those receiving public assistance for one year.
(iii) to

The disregarded income is increased 150 for those applying for LÀ.
Welfare allowance to be given to
those in residential institutional accommodation.

The establishment of a Social Security Appeal· Buaid.
