The Chaian said the Official Side would certainly send the Staff Side a written reply. It di not seem to go further if they had to provide the Staff Side a written reply before the Staff Side would give their facts

Mrs. Chaung said she did not agree to their saying that there was nothing further to discuss in this weting as in their letter they had already explained the conclusion of the last three meetings concerning the resolution of pay. They would like to discuse this point. The SATU had submitted a lot of evidence and facts, and they had already shown their aincerity on this matter. They would like to know the intention of the Official Side on pay improvement issue.

The Chairman said that in the previous meetings, they had discussed in length the Staff Side's proposals and evidence put forwardin the latter of 17th July about the Productivity Centre Report. In the meating on 20th and 29th June, they were through all the evidence in great detail and explained to the Staff Bide their point of view.

Mrs. Cheung said in the previous meetings they had received no comments of the Official Side in support of the Official Side's objection to the Productivity Centre Report.

The Chairman said they spent considerable length of time explaining why the Official Side did not think the Productivity Centre report a proper document to be used in assessing the Pay scala of SAT and stenographer. Ha said the Staff Side should look at the raft minutes of the meetings on 20th and 29th June.

Hrs. Cheng said although the Official Side claimed they had a concrete answer to the questions, but they Staff Side had already made it clear in their letter of 17th July 1977 saying that the Official Side had not provided them with proper answers,

The Chairman asked if they were referring to para. 3 of the latter.

Hrs. Cheung said they did not want to discuss this point any further. They simply wanted to have answer to whether there would be any improvement in their pay scale.

Mr. Hammond said in the previous meetings, he had already given the official Side'a point of view. #hat he said was that the Official Side say room in improving their promotion prospect but saw no room in improving salary scale. He was sure it had been recorded in the minutes of the previous meetings.

Miss V. So said so far they had produced enough and sufficient grounds and evidence in support of their claia for improvement in salary scale. Not to talk about Productivity Centre Report but just concerning about the Pay Investigation Unit Report they had enough grounds to improve their salary scale. However, they had a trump card in their hands. If the Official Side insisted on not improving their salary scale, they would present the trump card not to the Official Side but they would first consult their solicitors on making it opan to the public. They would assure the Official Side that the evidence
