Dear Madam,

223

GOVERNMEnt secRETARIAT

LOWER ALBERT ROAD

HONG KONG

11th July 1977

Further to the meeting between the Secretary for the Civil Service and the S.A.T. Unit on 7th July 1977, I quote Controller, P.I.U.'s reply to your queries raised at the meeting for your information:

2.

Further to two points raised at yesterday's meeting:

(a) it is confirmed that the 27 companies visited to participate in the 1976 survey were all from the 41 which provided information in the 1973 survey;

(b) as advised at the meeting, the wording of

paragraph 4 of the introductory remarks to the 1976 survey is not strictly accurate. 41 companies actually provided information in 1973. Out of the 41, 27 were among the 68 being visited in connection with the 1976

Pay Trend Survey and were therefore used in the 1976 survey;

(c) out of the 27 companies visited in 1976, analogues for the new rank of Stenographer were found in 17 only.

As I also made clear during the discussion this in

no way affects the accuracy of the information provided."

Yours faithfully,

(M. Rumjahn)

for Secretary for the Civil Service

Mrs. Matilda CHEUNG LIU Choi-kam,

Chairman, S.A.T. Unit,

c/o H.K.C.C.S.A.,

8, Wylie Road,

Hong Kong.
