I. Confirmation of minutes of last meeting
The minutes of the meeting held on 20th December 1976 were confirmed by both Sides subject to the amendment of a typographical error, namely the substitution of "90 w.p.m." in the 4th line from the bottom of para. 13, page 4 for "80 v.p.m.

Mrs. Cheung said the Staff Side did not regard as advancement the Official Side's proposal that, "Shorthand/Audio Typists who were in post on or before 31st March 1976 and who were qualified for Clerical Officer II under the criteria then existing would be considered for transfer to that rank if they so wished and subject to their suitability and vacancies" since qualified officers could have applied for Clerical Officer II in the first place, and asked whether,
(a) SATS transferred to Clerical Officer II would
be required to pass the confirmation examination, and,
(b) 40 or so vacancies, of the 170 total vacancies, for Clerical Officer II were still being reserved to accommodate the approximately 58 SATs who were formerly Clerical Officers II and who might wish to apply for transfer.
