Proposed Resturcturing of the Shorthand/Audio Typist Grade
With reference to the 2nd Consultative Meeting on the above subject held on 29th October 1976 and to your proposals as described in the South China Morning Post dated 6th November 1976, we are writing to request you to hold your proposals in abeyance for two months. We are not satisfied with the manner in which the Executive Committee of the Shorthand/Audio Typist Unit of the Hong Kong Chinese Civil Servants' Association conducted the negotiations on the above subject with the Government, and we certainly do not accept any agreement which is reported to have been reached.
We should be grateful if you would not implement the proposals alleged to have been agreed upon for the time being as the terms of this agreement are not acceptable to the majority of Shorthand/Audio Typists presently in the Civil Service. We feel that the Executive Committee of the Shorthand/Audio Typist Unit exceeded their mandate in reach the said agreement.
Attached herewith are the copies of the members' signatures of the Shorthand/Audio Typist grade, who support this letter and oppose the agreement reached.
It would be appreciated if you would hold in abeyance for two months the implementation of the alleged agreement so that we may discuss the issue further with the Executive Committee of the Shorthand/Audio Typist Unit of the Hong Kong Chinese Civil Servants' Asso.
Please acknowledge receipt of this letter and confirm that our discussions on the subject remain open.
