Shorthand/Audio Typist
(Pensionable)'
(A) DIRECT ENTRY
A
Candidates should:-
(i). be under 45 years of age;
(ii) have
(a) 5 subjects, including English Language
(Syllabus B) at Grade E or above in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education OR 4 subjects, including English Language (Syllabus B), one of which must be at Grade E or above and the others at Grade C or above; OR equivalent;
(iii) (a) have shorthand and typing speeds of
70 w.p.m. and 40 w.p.m. respectively;
OR
(b) have ability to transcribe from a
dictating machine and type at 40 w.p.m.
NOTE: Candidates will be required to take entrance
tests.
(B) IN-SERVICE APPOINTMENT
Senior Typists and Typists may be considered for advancement to Shorthand/Audio Typist provided that they:-
(i)
(a) have at least three years' experience as
a typist, of which one year must have been in Government service; OR
(b) have either 5 subjects, including English Language (Syllabus B) at Grade 3 or above in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education CR 4 subjects, including English Language (Syllabus B), one of which must be at Grade E or above and the others at Grade C or above; OR equivalent
AND
(ii) (a) have shorthand and typing speeds of
70 w.p.m. and 40 w.p.m. respectively;
(b) can transcribe from a dictating machine
and type at 40 w.p.m.
Shorthand and typing, or audio typing, and other associated clerical duties as necessary,
