for Senior Personal Secretary,

(iii) the pay scale for Senior Personal

Secretary should begin at Point 24 ($2,860), i.e. one increment higher than the maximum for Personal Secretary, to reflect the promotion relationship; and,

(iv) the maximum point should remain as at

present, i.e. Point 29 ($3,650) as the work content of the grade has not changed materially since the Salaries Commission 1971. This will give a six point career scale;

in respect of promotion prospects,

for Personal Secretary,

(i) they should retain direct promotion

prospects to Senior Personal Secretary after five years very good service in the rank of Personal Secretary; and, (ii) those who are judged to possess potential

for supervision and organisation should be considered for in-service appointment to the rank of Supervisor of Typing Services (see above); and,

for Senior Personal Secretary,

(iii) there will normally be no promotion

prospects, but Senior Personal Secretaries who have served at least five years in the rank shall be eligible for consider- ation, subject to their meeting the criteria, for in-service appointment to Personal Assistant as and when a suitable vacancy arises;

in respect of incremental credit, either on first appointment or during an officer's service, one additional increment should be granted to Personal Secretaries for a shorthand speed of 130 w.p.m. and/ or a typing speed of 70 w.p.m.
