Makes and repairs patterns or pattern parts for moulds from drawings and other specifications.
Ability to :-
1.
Correctly use and maintain the tools of the trade including hand and power tools and measuring instruments.
2. Read and interpret engineering drawings
and specifications.
3. Select, set up and operate all common
machine tools used for pattern making.
4. Select and use suitable materials according
to type of mould required.
5. Repair or rebuild worn or damaged patterns.
6. Make patterns from wood, metal, plastics, plaster of Paris and other materials.
7.
Observe safety precautions and health
measures.
Knowledge of :-
Workshop technology including foundry
practice, hand and machine tools, measuring instruments, properties and treatment of wood, metals and other materials for pattern.
2. Engineering drawing, sketching and
developments.
3. Patterns design.
4. Engineering science and calculation, including expansion and contraction.
