DESCRIPTION
Makes to specifications sheetmetal articles i.e. maximum thickness 10 s.w.g. (or 3.2 mm) such as containers, ducts, ornaments either by hand or machine, assembles, joints and repairs components by welding, brazing, soldering, riveting etc.
IV.
TRADE SKILLS
Ability to :-
1. Correctly use and maintain the tools of
the trade including measuring instruments, power tools, forming and bending equipment.
2. Undertake marking out and bench fitting to
specifications.
3. Perform welding, soldering, brazing,
riveting and heat treatment of metals.
4. Select and use the correct type of
fastening devices, joint and packing materials.
5. Make pattern layouts or templates according
to design, sketch, specification or instruction.
6. Fabricate, install and repair sheet-metal
assemblies and products in accordance with specification.
7. Read and interpret engineering drawings
and specifications.
8. Observe safety precautions and health
measures.
