DESCRIPTION
Fits, assembles, erects, installs, services, repairs and tests mechanical plant and machinery to drawings and specifications; keeps records of work.
Ability to :-

Use and take care of the tools of the trade including power hand and machine tools.
2. Mark out and work to specified fits
and tolerances.
3. Use and take care of relevant measuring
instruments, gauges and standards.
4. Install, service, test, maintain and
repair mechanical plant and machinery.
5. Heat treat metals to give required
properties.
6. Join metal parts by welding, hard
soldering, brazing and riveting.
7.
Undertake simple sheet metal work and pipe work.
8. Identify common engineering materials and select materials appropriate to a job.
9.
Use approved mechanical handling and lifting equipment.
10. Read and interpret engineering drawings
and specifications.
11. Carry out all necessary safety precautions ·
in the work for which he is responsible.
