TRADE SKILLS

Installs, tests, maintains and repairs electrical wiring and accessories in buildings structures or equipment including concealed and surface conduit, surface-mounted wiring, mineral-insulated cables and jointing or terminating cables up to medium voltage.

Ability to :-

1. Correctly use and maintain tools of the trade including power tools and test equipment.

2. Install all types of commonly used

wiring and wiring accessories in normal situations including surface conduit and special wiring and accessories in hazardous situations.

3. Install, service and test electrical

equipment associated with machine tools, lighting, control and material handling equipment, heating and ventilating plant.

Locate and repair faults in electrical insulations and equipment.

Identify different types of cables and wires, their current rating and insulation provisions.

6. Read and interpret simple electrical

specifications, wiring and circuit diagrams, and building plans.
