DESCRIPTION
TRADE SKILLS :
Performs technical tasks contributory to the efficient and economical production of products through proper management of machinery and human resources either independently or under the supervision of a qualified engineer.
Ability to :-
1. Apply engineering knowledge to identify and solve production/industrial and associated engineering problems.
2. Design jigs, tools and fixtures.
3. Prepare estimates of quantities and costs
of materials and labour.
4. Prepare and implement work and tooling
schedules.
5. Supervise, control and give technical guidance to craftsmen and operatives.
6. Maintain the functioning of plant and
equipment used for manufacturing processes.
7.
Control the quality of incoming materials, components and finished products to ensure compliance with specifications including material testing.
8. Undertake work study.
9. Carry out product design and development.
10.
Use correctly all common machine tools and fabricating equipment.
11. Read, interpret and prepare production
engineering drawings including sketches, detail, assembly and layout drawings.
12. Carry out all necessary safety precautions
in the works for which he is responsible.
