TECHNICIAN
Performs technical tasks contributory to design, development, manufacture, construction, automation, installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical plant and equipment, either independently or under the direction of a qualified engineer.
Ability to :-
1.
Apply engineering knowledge to identify and solve mechanical and associated engineering problems.
2. Design, set up and conduct experiments
and assist in design and development work.
3. Frepare estimates of quantities and costs
of materials and labour, and work schedules.
4. Supervise, control and give technical guidance to craftsmen and operatives.
5. Inspect and critically evaluate in-progress
or completed work to ensure compliance with specifications and safety standards.
6. Use correctly all common machine tools and
fabricating equipment.
7. Read, interpret and prepare mechanical
engineering drawings including sketches, detail and assembly drawings.
8.
Draw up and implement plant preventive maintenance programmes.
9. Carry out all necessary safety precautions
in the works for which he is responsible.
