Researches on mechanical engineering problems, designs and advises on mechanical plant and equipment, machinery and tools, and plans and supervises their development, manufacture, installation, operation and maintenance. Usually specialises in one or more of the following -
(1) design and development and
quality assurance of products,
(2)
sales and technical service,
(3)
plant engineering (installation and maintenance).
PROFESSIONAL SKILLS
Ability to :-
1. Apply original thought and judgement to the analysis and solution of mechanical and associated engineering problems.
2. Advise on mechanical and associated
systems and equipment.
3. Design mechanical and associated plant
and equipment in accordance with requirements and specifications and give advise to the existing.
4. Prepare specifications, operational
procedures and codes of practice.
5.
Coordinate with other concerned departments
to proceed with engineering work.
6. Plan, develop and supervise the manufacture,
installation, testing, commissioning, operation and maintenance of mechanical and associated components, plant and equipment.
7. Evaluate tender documents, and carry out
contract administration.
