Synthetic Drugs
65. On 26th January, 1977, a Chinese male, NG Wan-fei (0702/7189/7318) was searched by Preventive Service Officers in the Hong Kong Airport Departure Hall as he was about to board a flight for Tokyo. As a result, a total of 972 grammes of methylamphetamine hydrochloride was found strapped to his body with adhesive tape. NG was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of A Part I Poison. He was convicted and sent to a drug addiction treatment centre.

66. Investigations by Narcotics Bureau in the aftermath of the August 1976 operation against the Waterloo Road heroin retailing syndicate (reported in Narcotics Bureau Bulletin, 2nd Half 1977) resulted in the arrest of Chinese male CHENG Poon-kee (6774/3382/1142) alias CHENG Ching-ki (6774/3237/1142) and his wife LEUNG Wai-fong (2733/1920/5364) on 19th January, 1977. Cheng, who had been the wholesale supplier to the Waterloo Road retailing syndicate, went into hiding in August, 1976 at the time of the syndicate's neutralisation. He and his wife have been jointly charged with Conspiracy to Traffic in Dangerous Drugs and their trial is now pending in the Supreme Court.
