38 The four males have been jointly charged with (a) 'Manufacturing a Dangerous Drug' and (b) 'Possession of Dangerous Drugs for the Purposes of Unlawful Trafficking'. Additionally LEE Chun- kwai faces a separate charge of 'Possession of Dangerous Drugs for the Purpose of Unlawful Trafficking'. 39 A follow-up raid the same day resulted in the arrest of a Thai female Ladda Tetayanont, alias CHEUNG Sun-ngor (1728/5848/1230) the owner of one of the flats raided. She has been charged with 'Owner Permitting' (premises to be used for the manufacture of dangerous drugs).
40 All five persons are now awaiting trial in the Supreme Court.

On 22nd November, 1977, acting on information, Narcotics Bureau Officers raided a residential flat at F2, 8th floor, Stage II, Merry Court, Fessenden Road, Kowloon Tong. Inside the premises the officers uncovered a large quantity of chemicals and chemical apparatus, referable to the manufacture of methyl-amphetamine.
42 No arrest was made at the time of the raid. However, the following day Chinese male WONG Yau-leung (7806/2589/9663) voluntarily surrendered to the Narcotics Bureau. At a subsequent date a second Chinese male, LEE Kwok-tai (2621/0948/3141) was also brought into custody. The two males have been charged with (a) ‘Manufacturing a Dangerous Drug' and (b) 'Doing an Act Preparatory to Manufacturing a Dangerous Drug'. WONG is additionally charged with "Tenant Permitting' (premises to be used for manufacturing dangerous drugs).
43 The case has been committed to the Supreme Court. This is the first case of its type detected in Hong Kong and it is believed that the finished product was intended for the Japanese market.

44 On 14th July, acting upon information, Narcotics Bureau Officers raided a residential flat at Room 736, Block 44, Tze Wan Shan Estate. A search of the premises resulted in the seizure of 1.123 kilogrammes of No. 3 heroin. Two Chinese males Ma Lok-shun (7456/2867/7311) and NG Shum- ming (0124/1800/2494) were arrested inside the premises and jointly charged with 'Possession of Dangerous Drugs for the Purpose of Unlawful Trafficking'.
