3 On the evening of 10 April 1978, a party of uniform Police officers from Sham Shui Po Divisi Police station responded to a telephone call from a member of the public which said a strange smell was coming from Flat 56, Block C, 9 floor, The Broadway, Stage III, Mei Foo San Tsuen. When the party entered the premises they discovered heroin manufacture to be in process. Narcotics Bureau officers were summonsed to the scene and the three Chinese males and one Chinese female found inside the premises were detained. A total of 12.1415 kilos of heroin were seized from the premises along with 4.91 kilos of acetic anydride and 0.622 kilos of esters of morphine. The four arrested persons have been committed to stand trial in the Supreme Court. One of the defendants in this case is strongly believed to be connected with manufacturing heroin in a case interdicted in February 1978. Enquires are continuing in this aspect.
