You will recall that we spoke about the Army nominations for the appointments in the Royal Hong Kong Police. You have already received some names from the Officers' Association.
are:
I now enclose details of three army officers who are keen to be considered. Two are serving officers and the third, who is retired, is probably too old at 57. They
Lt Col W E STANNARD(RMP)(12.28)
Presently DPM HQ BAOR BFPO 40.
British Forces Hong Kong. He would seem very suitable.
Lt Col P W GLEAVE (REME) (7.33)
His last appointment was APM HQ
Presently OC 31 Command Workshops Leyburn Road, Catterick Garrison, N Yorks DL9 3LL. He served with the Gurkhas in the FAR EAST and also commanded a workshop in HONG KONG.
Lt Col M F LEONARD OBE (RMP) (9.21) Retired
Presently serving as a retired officer at HQ North East District York. Last appointment AMP HQ North East District before retire- ment. Previously APM HQ Land Forces HONG KONG. Probably too old.
Should Lt Cols STANNARD or GLEAVE be selected they would need notice of at least 4 months to allow them to retire from the service and reliefs to be found for them in their appointments.
It is suggested that these officers should be contacted at their unit addresses shown. We should be grateful if we could be informed if they are selected for the appointments.
Copies of their record of service are attached.
