I have been asked to reply to your letter of 25 July to Her Majesty The Queen. My records show that the matter you raise was the subject of a petition in March 1973 to the then Foreign and Commonwealth Secretary and that the latter's judgement was conveyed to you in Mr Fung Choi-cheung's letter of 23 July of that year.

Under these circumstances, I can only repeat that there is no possibility of an intervention on your behalf in this matter.

There is no sign of any churge having been made against you or of any conviction arising from the case in the records of the Hong Kong Government. You can rest assured that your reputation and standing are untarnished,

I am Sir

Your obedient Servant

(for the Secretary of State)
