Hon. Director of Public Works,
Public Works Department,
Hong Kong.
Dear Sir,
22nd March, 1977.
Streets (Alteration) Ordinance (Chapter 130).
In the proposed streets alteration order as published in G.N. 448 dated 25.2.77, part of the boundary areas within the Lung Cheung Court has to be surrendered for the purpose (para. (b) of the Notice refers).
An Extraordinary General Meeting of the members was called on Thursday, 17.3.77, in which the current Management Corarittee was authorised to lodge an objection to the proposed order with a clain for compensation if necessary, on behalf of the Lung Cheung Court members.
The grounds on which to base our objections to the order
are as follows :
(1) Loss of about 18,000 sq. ft. of land and allied plantation; (2) Creation of ill effect on the fung shui of our lot;
(3) Environment seriously hampered by the reduction of gardening
areas and the increase of pollution nuisance;
(4) Formation of a sharper turning curve at the upper corner would
become a black spot to the traffic, thus threatening the safety of our members who obtain access through the Waterloo Road; (5) To build retaining malls high above ground level would endanger the
safety of our children who chance to be around the area; (6) Consequent reduction of the value of the Lung Cheung Court.
We also request that government would consider an alternative scheme by which interference to our Court areas could be avoided.
However, should enforcement of the proposed order become necessary, we reserve the right to claim for compensation in respect of any loss or damage to our property resulting therefrom.
Yours faithfully,
(SHU Jan)
Chairman,
Lung Cheung Court Management Comittee, 1977.
