New Kowloon Inland Lot No 4491 (Arcadia Gardens)

The lot is occupied by a high-rise residential building. The area (about 36 m2) required for roadworks is a strip of land no more than one metre across at its widest point, fronting Waterloo Road, Fencing, a drainage channel and a set of steps on the strip of land will be reprovisioned by the Highways Office contractor as accommo- dation works.

The cost of resumption and accommodation works

is estimated to total $360,000 and sufficient funds to meet this commitment are available within the approved project estimate.

Recommendation

In view of the urgency to commence works and since no building structures are involved, it is recommended that the portions of New Kowloon Inland Lots Nos 911 and 4491 shown coloured orange hatched black on the plan at Annex B should be resumed under the Crown Lands Resumption Ordinance with one month's notice of resumption being given.

Advice sought

Honourable Members will be asked to advise, under section 3 of the Crown Lands Resumption Ordinance (Chapter 124), whether resumption of the portions of lots shown coloured orange hatched black on the plan at Annex B is necessary for a public purpose, namely construction of the Cornwall Street/Waterloo Road/Junction Road Grade Separated Intersection.
