One temporary domestic structure and fourteen agricultural structures all situated on private land will have to be cleared. The temporary domestic structure is occupied by a family who if found eligible will be offered public housing, If the family is found to be ineligible for public housing, a space in a temporary housing area in Yuen Long will be offered. Ex-gratia domestic removal allowance of up to $1,000 may be payable to this family from the compensation vote of the Housing Department under which funds are available.

The institution of formal resumption proceedings is recommended in case agreement cannot be reached with owners for the voluntary surrender of their land in order to avoid delays which may be caused by succession difficulties and absentee landowners. Since engineering work for the construction of the access road is scheduled to commence in early August 1978, three-months' notice of resumption will be given.

Honourable Members will be asked to advise, under section 3 of the Crown Lands Resumption Ordinance (Chapter 124), whether the resumption of the lots listed at Annex B is required for a public purpose, namely the construction of an access road to the Tai Tong borrow area, in connection with Package 3b of the Yuen Long Town Development.
