MEMORANDUM FOR EXECUTIVE COU
Crown Lands Resumption Ordinance
(Chapter 124)
RESUMPTION OF LAND YUEN LONG TOWN DEVELOPMENT PACKAGE 3b - CONSTRUCTION OF AN ACCESS ROAD TO TAI TONG BORROW AREA,
YUEN LONG, NEW TERRITORIES
A
On 15th November 1977, having considered memorandum XCR(77)298 and XCR(77)299, Honourable Members advised and the Governor decided that the resumption of a total of some 10. 18 hectares (about 1,095, 880 square feet) of private agricultural land was necessary for site formation and construction of roads and drains so that package 3b of the Yuen Long Town development programme could proceed. Resumption of this land has accordingly been ordered. In order to obtain fill for site formation in connection with package 3b works, the construction of an access road across private agricultural land at Tai Tong, Yuen Long is necessary. The borrow area will eventually be formed and made available for future development which will be served by the access road now required to be constructed. This project is in Category A of the Public Works Programme.
2
The Director of Public Works has accordingly requested the resumption of 4, 344 square metres (46, 758 square feet) of private agricultural land at Tai Tong, Yuen Long, New Territories, for the construction of an access road to the borrow area. The general location of the land to be resumed is shown coloured orange on the identification plan at Annex A. The Secretary for the New Terri- tories is satisfied that the land to be resumed is the minimum necessary to implement this project. Compensation for resumption and clearance is estimated at $482,000 and sufficient funds are available in the approved project estimate to meet this commitment.
3
The clearance will involve payment of compensation for crops, fruit trees, plants, a fishpond, wells, irrigation sumps and fences, together with ex-gratia allowance to cultivators and ex-gratia disturbance allowance for displaced pig breeders and poultry farmers.
